Quick Start

Skwad book may seem daunting, but here are the most useful bits. We recommend reading these even if you've used other budget apps in the past.

Must Reads​

  1. Categories - Understand how Skwad handles categories and auto-categorization. They are more flexible in Skwad compared to other apps.
  2. Transaction Signing - Handling Credit Card payments.
  3. Search - Very short. Very overlooked. Skwad's search box accepts complex queries.
  4. Budgeting - If you plan to use Skwad's budgeting features.

I'm New, What Should I Do First?​

Migrate

  • The first step is to upload your old transactions
  • Assign imported categories to a type, and clean up unused categories.
  • You can relax and wait for auto-categorization to learn and assign your new categories, or manually assign a few transactions to give hints. Remember, you only have to assign the first 'Netflix' transaction. Auto-cat will do the rest.
  • Accounts - Skwad will auto import accounts from uploads when you include the last four. If your transactions don't have an account, manually create and assign them.

Setup Auto Imports

  • Decide between bank linking and email scans, and set it up.
  • Email scans will auto import immediately after your next purchase, but bank linking may take up to 24 hours for new accounts.
  • While you wait, review your trends and make sure your numbers line up!
