Retail order sync extension
Your Amazon purchases land in Skwad as one number: Amazon, $84.32. No idea whether that was groceries, a birthday gift, or printer ink.
The Skwad extension fixes that. It reads your Amazon order history right in your browser and turns each order into an itemized transaction in Skwad, with every item, its price, tax, and shipping on the transaction. It also writes the order number into the notes, so you can always trace a charge back to what you actually bought.
Amazon's order and shipping emails stopped carrying the detail Skwad needs, so email scans can no longer itemize them. The extension is now the way to bring Amazon orders into Skwad.
What you'll need
- Google Chrome on a computer. The extension is Chrome-only for now, and doesn't run on phones.
- A personal Amazon.com or English Amazon.ca account. Business accounts and French Amazon.ca aren't supported yet.
- A Skwad account you can sign into in the same browser.
Install and connect
- Add Skwad — Retail Order Sync to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. Do this on a computer.
- Open the extension and click Log in to Skwad. Approve the extension from a Skwad tab you're already signed into. There's no password to retype.
- Pick which Skwad your orders should sync into.
- In another tab, sign into Amazon (.com or .ca).
- Back in the extension, click Sync.
What happens when you sync
The extension reads your recent Amazon orders and opens each order's detail page to pull the full breakdown: items, quantities, per-item prices, tax, shipping, gift wrap, and promos.
- Each order becomes one itemized transaction in Skwad, with every item on its own line.
- The order number goes into the transaction notes, and a Retail sync tag is added so you can find everything the extension touched.
- Sync again whenever you like. Orders you've already synced are skipped, so re-syncing never creates duplicates.
Your first sync, and staying current
Your first sync reaches back about 180 days (roughly six months) and can take a few minutes. The extension opens your orders one at a time on purpose, so Amazon doesn't throttle it.
After that, each sync only picks up what's new since the last one, so it's quick. Leave the extension installed and sync whenever you want your latest orders in Skwad.
What about my bank sync or old email scans?
If the same purchase also arrives through bank linking or an older email scan, you might briefly see two transactions: the itemized one from the extension and the plain one from your bank.
Skwad reconciles these for you. Auto-merge clears the confident duplicates on its own, and you can review the rest from the Duplicates view in Transactions.
Troubleshooting
It says I'm not signed into Amazon
Open Amazon in another tab in the same browser and sign in, then click Sync again. If Amazon shows a captcha or a one-time code, clear that first.
"Sync already in progress"
A sync is already running, sometimes in another browser or on another device. Wait for it to finish, then try again. To avoid this, only auto-sync from one browser.
"Amazon was slow to respond. Nothing was imported."
Amazon was throttling or slow to load. Nothing was saved, so nothing is half-done. Click Sync again. If it keeps happening, sign out of Amazon and back in, then retry.
It refused because of my Amazon account
The extension works with personal Amazon.com and English Amazon.ca accounts only. Business accounts, other Amazon marketplaces, and French Amazon.ca aren't supported yet. Setting Amazon's language to English resolves most refusals.
I deleted an order it added. Will it come back?
No. Deleting an imported Amazon transaction keeps it from being re-created on your next sync.
FAQ
Does the extension need my Amazon password?
No. It reads your orders from the Amazon tab you're already signed into. Your Amazon login stays with Amazon.
Does my Amazon email have to match my Skwad email?
No. They can be completely different accounts.
Which retailers work?
Amazon for now. The extension is built to add more retailers over time.
Where do my synced orders show up?
As regular transactions in Skwad, itemized and tagged Retail sync. Filter by that tag to see everything the extension added.
