Security and multi-factor authentication

Skwad lets you secure your account with a password and a true second factor. Everything lives under Settings → Security.

Set a password

By default new accounts sign in with email one-time codes. Adding a password gives you a faster sign-in path and unlocks stronger MFA options.

  1. Go to Settings → Security
  2. Click Set password
  3. Enter and confirm a strong password

Add an authenticator app (TOTP)

Email one-time codes are convenient but inherit the security of your inbox. An authenticator app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, etc.) is the recommended second factor.

  1. Go to Settings → Security
  2. Click Set up authenticator
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
  4. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm

Recovery codes

When you enable MFA, Skwad generates one-time recovery codes you can use if you lose access to your authenticator app.

  • Save them somewhere safe
  • Each code is usable once

Change your password

From Settings → Security, click Change password.

Forgot your password

Use the Forgot password? link on the sign-in page. We'll email you a reset link.

Why this matters

If you're still on email-only sign-in, take a minute to:

  1. Set a password
  2. Enable an authenticator app
  3. Save your recovery codes
