Unknown accounts

When Skwad imports transactions via email scans or file uploads, it tries to match each transaction to one of your accounts using the last four digits of the account number. If Skwad cannot find a matching account, the transaction is assigned to Unknown Account.

Why do I have unknown accounts?

Unknown accounts appear when:

  • You imported transactions via email scan or file upload and the transaction contains an account number that does not match any account in your Skwad
  • The matching account exists but its last four digits are not set or do not match what was in the imported file or email

How to fix it

Option 1: Create the account and assign the transactions

  1. Go to Accounts and create a new account for the institution
  2. Make sure to enter the correct last four digits on the account (this is what Skwad uses for matching)
  3. Go to Transactions, filter by Unknown Account, and re-assign those transactions to the new account

Option 2: Update an existing account's last four digits

If the account already exists but the last four digits are missing or wrong:

  1. Go to the account and click Edit
  2. Enter or correct the last four digits field
  3. Save the account — future imports will now match correctly
  4. Manually re-assign any existing unknown-account transactions

Adding last four digits to emails with scrubbers

Some banks do not include the last four digits of your account number in their email alerts. You can use scan scrubbers to automatically insert them before Skwad processes the email.

For example, if your bank sends alerts like Your Checking account has a new transaction but never includes the account number, you can add a scrubber rule that replaces Your Checking account with Your Checking account (1234), where 1234 is the last four digits.

See Scan scrubbers for instructions on setting up replacement rules.
